Historic and beautiful Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church will resound with the glorious sounds of a French Cathedral in this edition of the Chorale's popular concerts for two organs, brass and voices. The program includes brilliant works by Jean Langlais, Maurice Durufle, Lili Boulanger, Marcel Dupre and Olivier Messiaen. WILLIAM FERRIS CHORALE LETS THE ORGANS THUNDER
Season finale spotlights French cathedral music
(CHICAGO) The William Ferris Chorale closes its current season with a program of
French cathedral music for two organs, chorus, brass and percussion: Let the Organs
Thunder – The French Connection. Concert time is 8 PM on Friday, May 8th in Our
Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 708 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago. Two of Chicago’s
most celebrated organists, Richard Hoskins and Thomas Weisflog, are guest artists;
Music Director Paul French conducts.
The historic E. M. Skinner and Visser-Rowland pipe organs in Mt. Carmel Church will
accompany the Chorale as it thunders with the glorious music of Lili Boulanger,
Marcel Dupre, Maurice Durufle, Jean Francaix, Jean Langlais, Olivier Messiaen and
Pierre Villette. The grand finale will be William Ferris’s popular arrangement of
Charles-Marie Widor’s Toccata from Symphonie V: Festival Alleluias.
A Chicago musical landmark since 1971, the William Ferris Chorale is known for its
“warm yet full-bodied choral tone and articulate, unaffected expressive gestures”
