KONTINENT MEDIA’S EDITOR- IN- CHIEF ELECTED TO HIAS CHICAGO BOARD

June 21, 2011, Chicago, IL, Kontinent Media’s Editor-in-Chief, Igor Tsesarski was elected to HIAS Chicago Board of Directors this past Tuesday. This honor is bestowed on select individuals who make significant contribution to growth and development of the Russian-American community. The annual meeting that launched 100th Anniversary celebration for HIAS was attended by prominent community leaders and media. Attendees also enjoyed appetizing hor dourves and desserts.

During this meeting HIAS as part of its annual effort to help Russian immigrants with their pursuit of higher education awarded 10 scholarships totaling $40,000. Few guests told emotionally filled stories about their exodus from the former Soviet Union and other countries, and in particular how HIAS enabled for them to come to USA. It is also important to note that HIAS also takes an active role in helping new immigrants to get assimilated, prepared for their Citizenship examination and much more.
