MAKSIN DELIVERS AN INTIMATE CONCERT — FOLLOWED BY A PRIVATE TOUR PRELUDE WITH GUEST MUSICIANS!

August 6, 2011, Highland Park, IL, Ian Marksin, a critically acclaimed cellist, and recently nominated Citizen Musician by Yo-Yo Ma performed his new Weinberg pieces as well as pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, and a Russian composer Ilya Levinson to a standing ovation at a private residence. Ian noted that it was his first time giving a “public house concert”. He further shared that he is playing on a cello “created” in 1780 by artisan Giovanni Fiorillo. Concert attracted in access of 75 people.Post-concert guests enjoyed wine and hors d'oeuvre reception.

This intimate performance served as a prelude to Ian’s upcomingEastern European tour titled “The Effect of the Holocaust on 20th Century” in August.
OnAugust 16, in a private concert a praiseworthy trio comprised of three critically acclaimed musicians: Ian Maksin (cello), Paul Dystra (piano) and David Lisker (violin) played Weinberg and Bloch pieces same pieces to be performed by them in abovementioned tour.
In my conversation with Ian he remarked that “I would prefer to play in smaller venues. It allows for a more intimate interaction between the artist and the audience.” Ian added that although Weinberg a Polish/Jewish composer and Holocaust survivor’s music is cryptic, he intends to find ways to adopt it more to audience taste.

Leonard Mogul, market development director for Kontinent Media said that “it was truly an incredible treat to listen to some of the greatest musicians of our time.” He added that “I truly look forward to their next performance and take great pleasure in continuing to helpphenomenon musicians such as Ian, Paul and David to garner popularity!”
