TOCCO TAPPETO ROSSO – CELEBRATING THE 84TH ACADEMY AWARDS – SUPPORTING A GREAT CAUSE
February 26, 2012, Chicago, IL, “Tocco Tappeto Rosso – Celebrating the 84th Academy Awards – Supporting a Great Cause,” was a red carpet event benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago (BBBSMC). The event presented by OUR BIG SPLASH, was attended by 75 distinguished guests and held at Tocco, a popular Italian restaurant in Chicago.
Tocco and BBBSMC came together to host a Hollywood-style event, which attracted Chicago’s farfalle sociali (social butterflies) to celebrate the film industry’s biggest night. Guests enjoyed the show on the BIG screen while sipping prosecco, indulging in delicious Italian appetizers and enjoying an open bar.
This exclusive event featured a raffle, which included an original designer cashmere coat by the guest of honor, Sam Kori George, 2009 winner of the Oscar’s Designer Challenge. Select guests had a unique opportunity to have a portrait created exclusively for them by nationally published fashion illustrator, Rosemary Fanti.
This event was generously supported by: Bruno Approved, Heritage Wines, Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Morph Personal Training, Salon Buzz, Sam Kori George Atelier, Waldorf Astoria and Kontinent Media.
"With your generous support, we will be able to make even more of our high quality mentoring matches,” said Art Mollenhauer, CEO, BBBSMC.
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. They develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Judy Fitzgerald of OUR BIG SPLASH remarked, “It was a fabulous event; benefiting a fantastic organization that helps today’s at risk children become tomorrow’s successful adults.” Leonard Mogul of Kontinent Media, concluded, “It was an honor to be the event media sponsor. We support organizations such as BBBSMC primarily because of their investment in ensuring that every child who has a dream and works at it will have an opportunity to realize it.”
BBBSMC CEO, Art Mollenhauer also noted, “BBBS is not your typical organization. We help children realize their potential and build their future. We nurture children and strengthen communities. And we couldn’t do any of it without you.”
